Disclaimer and disclosure
What these calculators are for, what they are emphatically not a substitute for, and where the money comes from.
Medical disclaimer
The content on this site, including all calculator outputs, is general nutrition education and information. It is not medical advice, it is not medical nutrition therapy, and it does not create a dietitian–client or any other professional relationship between you and the author.
These calculators use population-level prediction equations and published guideline ranges. They cannot account for your medical history, medications, laboratory values, injuries, genetics, or any of the individual factors that a proper nutrition assessment considers. The outputs are estimates carrying meaningful error, described in detail on the methods page, and they should be treated as a starting point for discussion rather than a prescription.
Do not use this site to diagnose or treat any condition, and do not delay or disregard advice from your physician or dietitian because of something you read here. Please consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet, particularly if you have or suspect any medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are under eighteen years old, take medication that affects appetite, blood glucose or metabolism, or have any history of disordered eating or an eating disorder.
If a calculator on this site returns a target that seems extreme, or flags low energy availability, treat that as a reason to speak with a professional rather than a target to pursue. No number on this website is worth your health.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author accepts no liability for any loss or harm arising from use of, or reliance on, the information provided here. You use these tools at your own risk.
Scope of practice and licensure
The author is a registered dietitian nutritionist licensed in the state where she practises. Publishing general nutrition education for a national audience is not the practice of dietetics in any particular reader's state, and nothing here should be construed as the provision of individualised nutrition care to a resident of any jurisdiction. If you want individual care, seek a dietitian licensed where you live — the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics directory is the easiest way to find one.
Affiliate disclosure
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, this site may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. That commission is what keeps the calculators free and free of sign-up walls.
Two commitments about how that works here. No product recommendation on this site changes because of an affiliate relationship — if something is worth recommending it appears, and if it is not it does not, and the money has no vote. And nothing on this site is sponsored: no brand has paid for a mention, a review, or placement, and no advertiser has any input into the content of the articles or the behaviour of the calculators.
The display advertising on the page is served programmatically by an ad network. Neither the author nor the advertisers choose which specific ads appear next to which content, and the presence of an ad is not an endorsement of the advertiser.
Accuracy and corrections
Sports nutrition guidance changes as the evidence changes. Every article carries a review date, and the sources behind each number are listed so you can check them yourself. If you find an error, a superseded guideline, or a citation that does not support the claim made, please write to [email protected]. Corrections are made promptly and the review date updated.
